Roman is a Civilian-Class Combat Cyborg. He is one of the oldest members of the Scarf Heroes, having been born long before the apocalypse. He has difficulty in expressing emotion, as he has no movable eyes and no mouth. Because of this he comes off as very cold and unfeeling to people who don't know him.
Roman was born over a hundred years ago to a radical cybernetic family. He underwent full-body prosthetic surgery at the age of 2, skipping the physical and emotional development of puberty. His parents did not allow him to go to school or leave the local area. In place of a traditional education he had the information directly downloaded into his brain. His parents refused to let him talk with baseline humans, teaching him that they were weak and cowardly. Because of this, Roman grew up with a small and tight-knit group of friends with similar upbringings.
His parents were drafted and killed in the wars leading up to the Decimation, finally allowing Roman to explore the outside world. The death of Roman's parents reinforced his beliefs that humans were degenerative, and the constant news of conflict he found in the outside world did not help matters. Roman found few people he tolerated, preferring to stay in contact with his childhood friends.
When the Decimation had came Roman was in an area of little population and of little importance, sparing him. Only a few of his friends had survived the apocalypse and they stayed in constant communication until the infrastructure supporting the internet went down.
Roman searched for his remaining friends for years before realizing that there was next to no chance of him ever stumbling across them. For the next few decades he wandered around the wastelands, attempting to find the upbringings of a new civilization. While wandering through the desolate roads of a ruined city he overheard word of a walled city known as Crestfall. Intrigued, Roman set out to investigate.
On the way to Crestfall Roman was attacked by a large hoard of Faded. He was able to fend off a few, but his body was not made for combat against groups. Just as the last reserves of his energy supply dwindled he was rescued by a scouting group sent by the Scarf Heroes. Looking to repay his debt he followed the scouting group back to their base and met with their leader, Joey. After a long conversation he was accepted as a Recruit. He now spends his time acting as a strategic adviser to the team.
Roman is very strategic, constantly forming new plans when old ones fail. He refuses to give up on a goal he cares about and is usually crushed when he realizes the futility in a situation. Roman can come off as insensitive to others because of his inability to express feeling properly, and this is partly true. Decades of perceived superiority to "second-class" un-augmented humans have been ingrained in him and because of this he has difficulty seeing the issues of others as "on his level", although he tries to empathize with people close to him. Roman is very impatient with others, and prefers to not have long-winded conversations. He is very practical and does not care for philosophy and other such things.
Roman's body gives him vastly enhanced strength and speed. In his base mode he is constantly seeing six times as fast as an average human, allowing him to see everything as if it was "in slow-motion". His body is made of titanium and the synthetic muscles inside are composed of very strong cables. This gives him great durability and lifting strength, although most modern weapons are based on those made in the past, and as such they are capable of tearing through his body with enough effort.
His base mode was designed to be extremely stable and as such it has few drawbacks to its basic design. However he does require a large energy supply and must eat huge amounts of food in order to operate at full-capacity. If Roman loses too much energy he will go into "sleep mode" and will not be capable of fighting or much conscious thought until he receives the energy required
This is the mode Roman uses when he is in a serious combat situation. This mode increases his perception speed over one hundred times its base, allowing him to dodge bullets with ease. His speed is also greatly enhanced, letting him accelerate to supersonic speeds within a second. The boost in movement speed allows for Roman to hit extremely hard in this mode as he's been known to be able to punch through steel walls and make craters in cliff-faces.
This mode is Roman's absolute limit, and comes with a large amount of drawbacks. The mode itself uses an extremely large amount of energy, lasting only 30 seconds before he enters a comatose state to recharge for sleep mode. The great speed also puts a large amount of strain on his body. This mode has been known to rip some of Roman's organs out of place and even shatter his limbs if he hits hard enough. Roman must also keep his neck and head as still as possible in this state to avoid jostling important parts in his brain. If Roman attempts to use this mode for more than 30 seconds he has a very large chance of dying.
Roman is not very considerate and tends to be manipulative, as such he has few positive relationships.
Roman does not respect Alyssa in the slightest. He believes she is unfit for leadership over the team due to her emotional break-downs and mental instability. Roman will pretend to enjoy Alyssa's presence, but only to get closer to her so he has a better shot at manipulating her decisions.
Roman has a mild friendship with Sheepy. He enjoys her kindheartedness and the guidance she provides to the team, but he does not talk to her much. Roman has difficulty grasping her introverted nature, but attempts to keep it in mind because of the negative affects draining her can have on morale.
Roman feels obligated to Joey, as he was the one who sent the scouting squad that saved him. Through this obligation Roman has stayed fairly close to Joey, making him one of the few people Roman trusts. Roman tends to stay near Joey's position whenever possible, hoping to "fill out" his obligation as quickly as possible by always being available for work.
Roman has a love-hate relationship with Kayleigh. On one side of the spectrum he is very sleazy and purposefully obnoxious around her, on the other side she is the only person Roman has ever felt attracted to. Roman is well aware that Kayleigh hates him, but he purposefully ignores it, thinking that she'll fall for him eventually.
Roman does not care for Isa's quick-to-act nature and frequently tries to avoid using her in any plans because of the difficulty in predicting her actions. The only interaction between Isa and Roman is usually done in sparring matches as she is one of the few members able to keep up with his speed.
